What’s the Big Deal with Preaching?

from a series on preaching by Thabiti Anyabwile link at bottom. Here’s the definition he expounds on through 5 posts:

God speaking in the power of His Spirit about His Son from His word through a man.

Here’s a section from his last post.

Consider that for a moment. Angels serve as messengers of God but desire to look into the preaching of mortals. The heavens declare His glory and pour forth speech day after day, though not the specific revelation of the Son of God through the word of God in the power of God. No, the Father has reserved the noble privilege of preaching for the creatures most like Him and once most rebellious toward Him.

I find it remarkable that the holy things of God would be appointed to redeemed men to proclaim. I find it remarkable that one of the highest reasons for speech and hearing is the communication of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Isn’t it remarkable that men will not hear unless there is a preacher? Though God does the work through His word and Spirit, He uses men to accomplish His sacred will. We open our mouths and out comes the word and power of God! I love being a preacher.
