“What is the Gospel?”, response by Dr. Ravi Zacharias

  1. Peter Black says:

All that Zacharias says is good and true. The one needed additional point is that the generic Evangelicals are deficient in their belief and their emphasis in the message that the Gospel is for “sinners,” i.e. for unbelievers. Not so. The Gospel is and should be part of the feast of blessedness provided for believers, on every occasion when they gather together. The sacrament of holy communion is a visual display of the Gospel, and is intended for us to take as spiritual refreshment, more proof that we need not struggle alone in the journey through life, much of which does (as Zacharias says of unbelievers’ lives) amount to futility and failure. Our “success” is that of the One who has won the battle (to borrow a phrase from Luther’s hymn) on our behalf. We should delight in the Gospel, every day of our lives.
